Cranage EMC and safety group provides EMC and Safety Testing Services for the CE Mark. Manufacturing division produces interference control devices and testing accessories. In addition to the standard range of testing LISN's available, Cranage EMC Technology Limited has developed a range of compliance LISN's with current ratings of up to 100 Amps. Additionally a unique range of LISN's (ISOLISN®) have been developed to enable emissions tests to be carried out safely on RCD protected supplies.

A CISPR16 Voltage Probe is specified to be used in all emissions standards when, artificial mains networks (LISN's) cannot be used. The Cranage Voltage Probe (PLIP® - Power Line Interference Probe) is suitable for measurements on both single and three phase AC supplies up to 275V line earth. The 30dB pre-amplifier is used to correct the usual insertion loss. Measurements are made between each line conductor, and a suitable earth point. As it is so easy to use, the insulated and fused safety probes can be quickly detached from one line and attached to another, when dealing with three phase equipment. At Cranage we were very privileged when Toshiba approached us with the need for us to test one of their new products. The reasoning behind why Toshiba choose us as opposed to another test house was because of our testing expertise coupled with unique equipment to the UK. This new service was introduced as part of Cranage's mission of becoming the leading experts in testing switchgear and related products for sub-station use. Currently Cranage are the only EMC test house that can carry out these tests in the UK and possibly Europe. Cranage can now perform the following tests:- BS EN / IEC 61000-4-9: Electromagnetic Compatibility - Pulse Magnetic Field Test up to 1000A/m. BS EN / IEC 61000-4-10: Electromagnetic Compatibility - Damped Oscillatory Magnetic Field Immunity Test up to 100A/m. BS EN / IEC 61000-4-12: Electromagnetic Compatibility - Oscillatory Waves Immunity Test up to ±3kV.
Designed specifically to meet the conducted RF immunity testing conditions specified in EN61000-4-6: 1996 and manufactured in robust zinc-aluminium (polish finish) alloy enclosures. 10V rms in the range 150kHz to 150MHz and 3V rms up to 230MHz. Options include internal 6dB 50W RF power pad. Supplied with certificate of conformity, calibration results, level setting data, and connectors. This is a parallel plate transmission line providing a uniform electromagnetic field, allowing the EUT to be tested in all axes to detect worst case susceptibility. There are three types of stripline available at Cranage which provide 10, 20 and 30V/m min at an e-field response of typically 25MHz to 230MHz. All three have a power rating of 36W Our calibration laboratory is set-up to perform measurements of impedance and insertion loss over the frequency range 20Hz to 500MHz with automated systems to offer cost-effective results. All measurement equipment including precision short circuit and 50W standards are calibrated annually with UKAS traceability. Products manufactured by Cranage EMC Technology Limited are also backed up by extensive calibration facilities for the measurement of inductance, capacitance, and resistance. Many of our products have been independently calibrated with UKAS traceability and this has served to verify our measurement results. LISN's, PLIP's and CDN's are initially supplied calibrated with results documented according to our calibration procedures. Annual re-calibration is also provided on a standard traceability basis. You would receive a bound calibration record for each product submitted with measurement results and details of procedures used. This service is quoted inclusive of return UK carriage cost and is offered on a 5 days turnaround. This service is also available for other makes of LISN, CDN and voltage probe. Products accepted for re-calibration under this scheme will be checked for compliance with published specifications.
