Test My Product

Safety and reliability of electrical and electronic equipment used on the highway or railway are key issues concerning designers, integrators, installers and assessors working in these industries. Equipment intended for use in safety-related systems is particularly scrutinised for its immunity to electromagnetic disturbances, continuous and transient, derived form airborne and conducted sources.

In addition to the many standard features of an accredited testing laboratory, Cranage has specialist knowledge and facilities to investigate and measure the screening performance of cables, connectors, materials, assemblies and electronic modules. We work with clients to investigate sources of electromagnetic leakage and have developed application specific shielding solutions to achieve EMC. This aspect of our business is under constant development as new technologies and products continue to push the boundaries.

Technical standards are set by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and published in the Official Journal (OJ) to keep manufacturers of road and rail equipment and associated systems and products updated with current and forthcoming requirements for demonstrating conformity with the following EU Directives:-

1) Rail System Interoperability Directive 2008/57/EC

2) Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC

3) Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMC)

The following safety standards, also within our UKAS scope, have been applied to specific rail and road projects for electrical and electronic equipment:-

The EMC standards listed below are included within our current UKAS scope for accreditation specifically for road and railway applications:-
