Meet The Team

My journey in the engineering field began with a 4-year craft apprenticeship at UKAEA. I then advanced to postgraduate studies at Ferranti military systems and BAe. This paved the way for my role as the Technical Director at EJA Engineering Ltd, the manufacturer of Guardmaster Safety Switches. Today, I am proud to serve as the Business Owner, a testament to my continuous growth and expertise in the industry.

In 1992, I founded Cranage EMC & Safety, and I have experience in testing safety and non-safety critical products, developing new testing facilities for Cranage and managing environmental testing projects.

As the founders’ son, my Cranage journey started back in my childhood when the family business was being formed in the early 90’s. I had a real insight into engineering from a young age, from lending my parents a hand in constructing our first semi-anechoic chamber to assisting my Dad in testing products. This love continued, particularly in electronics and technology, and I knew I wanted to pursue it as a career. In 2007, I became the EMC laboratory manager and successfully gained UKAS accreditation in many associated tests, including the first for EMF in lighting.

Now, as Managing Director, my love for the subject hasn’t changed, and I’m always looking for new ways to develop the business. Engineering is constantly evolving, and you simply learn all the time! I am the EMC specialist managing this aspect of our business.

Starting right at the bottom on a YTS scheme in the early 90s, I have been fortunate to have experienced a variety of disciplines over my 35-year career, from designing products in the early years before moving on to the regulatory compliance part of the industry- including four years EMC testing, and over 25 years product safety.

I specialise in medical and machinery testing and have been fortunate to travel the world to offer these services and develop the businesses I have worked for. This wealth of industrial experience allows me to understand the customer’s needs and their products fully. We are hands-on directors at Cranage, and I manage product safety assessments.
